But let's face it, we often need a little push of energy and inspiration to get us started and... keep us going.
And this is why GURU founders and ex college buddies François Bazinet and Ray Jolicoeur got together in 1997. After a few years of developing careers of their own in the arts, business and entertainment fields, they wanted to create a drink that could help people do amazing things in a positive, natural healthy way and inspire them to go beyond their previous limits. The way a real 'guru' would do it.
The name stuck around and wound up being at the center of their idea. In fact, it inspired them to seek out old friends and gurus in their field. They learned from them about potent herbal extracts, like guarana and ginkgo biloba, used for centuries by varied cultures around the world as natural supplements to get things done. That made GURU anchor itself as much in ancient holistic principles as in modern technologies.
The two quickly teamed up with two other college friends, Joe Zakher (now our CEO) and Eric Graveline (by then a sailing Olympian and finance super-star of his own) and started the company. In September 1999, the first GURU cans rolled-off the production line and quickly sold-out at a small deli in Montreal, and by the end of that year, nearly a million cans had been sold. The start-up was on its way.
Today, GURU Energy and the people who've embrace the brand are spreading the word by doing amazing things, everyday. They make a positive impact everywhere they go and help turn what's good into great, in a natural way. They truly live the brand and show that everyone of us can be the best at what we do and become a guru at whatever we aspire.
